Andrew on the 14er Record >    >   >  > >> Show me

First there was the 14ers. 55 mountains that rise up over the 14,000 foot mark in Colorado. Many of these involve what most people consider to be rock climbing. These are often loose and always rocky. Even on easier trails the sense of vertigo you get from having the general horizon so far below your typical perspective is dizzying. (I know you hate the "voice of doom" Andy but it's true) Then there was the 14er record. How fast can you hike all of the 14ers? Andrew set that record a few years ago by doing it in 13 days. Now Andrew seeks the "Self Powered 14er Record" where he intends to not only hike the mountains but bike between them as well. See the details at his site. The video depics him starting from his house in Jamestown, CO, at midnight. Why at midnight? Well, he is going to be going 20-hours-a-day anyway so he might as well make it easy to keep time...

The start of such an expedition is long awaited for Andrew, but filled with anxiety for friends and family. This first video is more about the concern of the support crew than it is about Andrew.
