This trail is up on the Peak to Peak Highway northwest of Boulder by about 30 miles. I had done the trail once before and loved the mix of boulder-crawling, water crossings, scenery, and finishing with an enjoyable technical downhill on the Sourdough Trail. Tony and I loaded up the F D (that would be FORD minus the "OR") and headed up by way of Jamestown. We stopped by Andrew's house in case he wanted to go. He wasn't there but Buddy (his dog) was so we grabbed Buddy and headed for the trail. This summer I had a problem. Every other ride I went on for a period a month or so I forgot some key ingredient. Most often it was the helmet that stayed at home but this day it was the clipless shoes. I missed my up-stroke for the uphill, but when it came to shooting down the technicals behind Tony it became a little more interesting. Thankfully it wasn't the hard stuff but the very easy and smooth trail that took me down. The above picture shows how well I was able to plow the trail with my face.
I suggest viewing these videos by right-clicking on the link and "Saving Target As". Save it to your computer and then watch it. This way you are sure to have it play smoothly.
